DERIMPETTU

I met this land in 2009 and since then I have been so fascinated by it that I return every summer, always in the same places, along the same roads, the same paths. I have always thought that it is a place where I wanted to be born for many reasons.

Derimpettu is the Salento way of saying “in front”, because my love for this land has never stopped at what it represents for many people, sea and food, I have always looked at these places with my back to the sea.

For those who live in cities like me these places may seem bare and poor, but beauty is precisely in this total absence of all that is useless, because true wealth and happiness resides in the little things we possess.

Caparezza in a song he writes:

or Puglia or my Puglia
I always carry you in my heart when I go away
and immediately I think I could die without you
and immediately I think I could die with you too.
